Long course PBs
A 50m Personal Best (PB) is a 50m PB and a 25m PB is a 25m PB.
You can't convert a 50m PB to a 25m time and say that the converted time is a new 25m PB and vice versa.
The two PBs stand alone and one does not replace the other.
The conversion tables give you a fairly accurate indication of what a time swum in a 50m pool would be if swum in a 25m pool and vice versa. The converted times could be used to enter an Open Meet. So, if your swimmer wanted to enter events at an Open meet in a 50m pool but they had only ever swum these events in a 25m pool, and 50m entry times were required, then you would convert the 25m times into 50m times and use these as your entry times. The same is true if you wanted to enter events in a 25m pool but only had 50m times.
